I’m a big believer in community and the idea of lifting each other up. Below are causes that I approve of and/or have directly supported. If you’re looking for an organization to give your time, attention or money to, these are my recommendations.




New Beginnings

From their mission statement:  New Beginnings empowers survivors and mobilizes community awareness and action to end domestic violence.


Innocence Project New Orleans

From their mission statement: In Louisiana and Mississippi, the two states with the highest incarceration rates in the world, Innocence Project New Orleans frees innocent prisoners, exposes injustice and prevents wrongful convictions.


Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and Hawaiian Islands

From their mission statement: The mission of PPGNHI is to support the lifelong sexual health of women and men, and to foster a community where every child is a wanted child.


Southern Poverty Law Center

From their About Us page: The SPLC is dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. Using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy, the SPLC works toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality.


National Academy of Sciences

From their mission statement: Established by an Act of Congress, signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863, the NAS is charged with providing independent, objective advice to the nation on matters related to science and technology.


Extra Life
